Munster High School’s Girls Varsity Basketball team earned a strong 39–22 victory over Illiana Christian, improving its overall record to 5–4 on the season. With an amazing atmosphere with the band and cheerleaders providing they hype, Munster set the tone early, taking a 9–7 lead after the first quarter. The Mustangs extended their advantage in the second quarter, outscoring Illiana Christian 14–8 to head into halftime with momentum. Strong defensive efforts continued in the third quarter, where Munster held Illiana Christian to just three points while adding five of their own. The Mustangs closed the game decisively in the fourth quarter with an 11–4 run to secure the win. Arroyo Mongerie led all scorers with 17 points, while Igbo Odeluga added 10 points and dominated the glass with an impressive 19 rebounds. Emi Tioco contributed six rebounds and three assists. Defensively, the Mustangs were active throughout the night, led by Mongerie with five deflections and four steals. Odeluga recorded six deflections, and Tioco added four deflections of her own. JV secured a 26-24 victory. Munster will look to carry this momentum forward on Friday as they take on TF South at home.
