Last night, Mustang Volleyball faced off against Chesterton in a tough matchup. The Freshman team came out strong, earning a 2-1 victory. The JV squad battled hard, taking the opening set 25-23 before falling in the next two, 21-25 and 16-18. The Varsity team fell in three sets (16-25, 14-25, 14-25) against a strong Chesterton lineup. Despite the loss, several Mustangs stood out on the court. Freshman Mel O’Connor anchored the back row with impressive defense and poise, running serve receive like a veteran. Freshman Taylor Pumphrey and junior Jasmina Hamilton connected well with their hitters, combining for multiple kills that gave Munster key offensive sparks. Sophomore Cadence Patterson added steady assists and tallied solo blocks that turned into Mustang points. This young Varsity group continues to grow against a challenging early schedule, facing opponents with big hitters and improving their defensive response each match. With conference play on the horizon, the Mustangs are building confidence and momentum. The action continues tonight as Freshman and JV host Crown Point at 6 p.m. Tomorrow (Thursday), all three levels are back in the Fieldhouse to host the LaPorte Slicers beginning at 5:30 p.m.
