Munster High School is excited to announce Matt Bliss as the new Head Coach for the Girls Cross Country program. Coach Bliss brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role, having previously served as a volunteer coach for Munster Cross Country in 2024 and as an assistant track coach in 2025. His coaching journey spans over 15 years, including roles as the Head Boys and Girls Track and Cross Country Coach at Griffith Middle School from 2013 to 2021 and the Head Cross Country Coach at Purdue Calumet from 2010 to 2012. Coach Bliss is driven by his passion for running and his commitment to helping student-athletes reach their full potential. His philosophy is centered around building a team grounded in hard work, unity, and self-discovery through every mile. A lifelong runner, Coach Bliss competed in high school and college, running track and cross-country at Ball State University. His dedication to the sport is matched by his commitment to fostering a positive and motivating environment for his athletes. "Coach Bliss's experience and passion for cross country will be invaluable to our program. We are thrilled to have him lead our girls and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will make on and off the course," said Mike Schultz, Athletic Director at Munster High School. "His commitment to developing our athletes both athletically and personally aligns perfectly with our values." Bliss resides in Munster with his wife, Jessica, and their two children, Elora and Beau, who attend Munster High School and Wilbur Wright Middle School, respectively. The entire Bliss family shares a love of running, making Coach Bliss an inspiring leader for Munster’s cross country community.
