The Mustangs continued their impressive season with a commanding 8-0 victory over conference rival Highland on Thursday, April 24. The win improved their overall record to 15-3 and kept their conference record perfect at 6-0. Senior pitcher Ally Compton was lights out, throwing a complete-game one-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no runs allowed. The Mustangs backed her up with a strong offensive showing, led by Miah Almaguer, who went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI. CeCe Mason also had a solid night at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Munster wasted no time getting on the board. In the top of the first, Almaguer singled, and after a walk and fielder’s choice, she scored on a groundout. Mason followed with a key single to bring in two more runs. Almaguer struck again in the second with a solo homer. In the fifth, Marlow and Mason singled, and Biel knocked in a run with another single. Kindy’s groundout and Sheehan’s sacrifice fly added two more insurance runs. It was a complete team effort, Munster continued to roll through conference play. The JV Mustangs also dominated Highland winning 16-0. The Mustangs return to action on Monday, April 28 vs. conference rival Andrean. Varsity plays at Andrean and JV at home.
