Softball Finishes Spring Break with Four Victories

The Mustangs finished off their spring break trip to Tennessee with three victories on Wednesday, March 26 and a victory in the final game of the trip on Thursday, March 27. In their first game on Wednesday, the Mustangs defeated Normal West, IL 7-1. Kaylee O'Connell earned the victory in the circle with 10 strikeouts, 2 walks, and only giving up 4 hits. Offensively, Munster was led by Cece Mason's two hits, Caroline Wendlinger's two hits and 2 RBIs, and Ally Compton's 3 hits and 3 RBIs. In game two of the day, Munster won 8-7 against Glenbrook North, IL in international tie-breaker. Addy Biel and Ally Compton shared the game in the circle having a combined 8 strikeouts 3 walks, and giving up 7 hits. Cece Mason had 2 hits and 2 RBIs and Ally Compton had 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and a homerun. Three Mustangs had doubles-Mason, Compton, and Biel. In the third game of the day, Munster won 13-2 against Wauconda, IL. O'Connell and Compton shared the game in the circle pitching 5 innings, with a combined 11 strikeouts, 4 walks, and giving up 4 hits. Mason, Compton, O'Connell, Miliana Munoz, and Maddy Marlow each had multiple hits in the game with O'Connell, Compton, and Wendling hitting homeruns. The Mustangs finished the trip with a 4-2 over East Peoria, IL. The Mustangs were able to travel to Western Kentucky University to watch Munster High School graduate Char Lorenz play for the Louisville Cardinals. The Mustangs return to action at home on Saturday, March 29 at home vs. Crown Point (10AM) and Lockport (2PM).
