The Munster Unified Track team is gearing up for an exciting season under the leadership of Head Coach Patrick Raleigh. Now entering his second year at the helm, Coach Raleigh’s focus extends far beyond competition—it’s about building a culture of inclusion, teamwork, and mutual respect through the Champions Together program. Unified Track is part of the Champions Together initiative, a collaborative partnership between the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and Special Olympics Indiana. The program empowers students with and without intellectual disabilities to train and compete together, fostering an environment of servant leadership and social inclusion. This initiative helps end the stigma around intellectual disabilities while giving all students the opportunity to compete and grow together. Last season, the Mustangs competed in every meet and event, highlighted by their first trip to Regionals and a strong showing at the KV meet. Key returning athletes include Lorenzo Pina, Brook Bravo, and Treveon Johnson, who are expected to lead the team with experience and dedication. Coach Raleigh expressed his excitement about the season, saying, “Together we can accomplish anything.” A significant milestone for the program this year is hosting their first home Unified Track meet on April 23rd vs. Griffith High School at 5 PM, a testament to the growth and strength of the program. As the Mustangs take the track this season, they continue to embody the true spirit of Champions Together—proving that inclusion, teamwork, and perseverance lead to success on and off the track.
