The Munster boys volleyball team is set to make history this spring as the sport becomes an official IHSAA state championship event. Led by head coach Madison Horin, who enters her second season at the helm, the Mustangs are coming off a solid inaugural campaign, finishing with a 13-12 record. Coach Horin, a former Munster girls volleyball standout and collegiate player at USC, is eager to lead her team into this milestone season. Munster will rely on a strong group of returning players, including Jose Foster (Outside Hitter, Senior), Austin Spain (Libero/Setter, Senior), AJ Horin (Outside Hitter/Middle Blocker, Junior), and Ruben Napules (Outside Hitter, Senior). Their leadership and experience will be key as the Mustangs aim to build on last year's success. The Mustangs will need to fill the gap left by key players lost to graduation, including Elias Orduno and DeAnthony Bowden Jr. Their production and leadership will be missed, but the returning core is ready to step up. "This team believes in each other and knows that hard work will pay off," said Coach Horin. "What you believe, you can achieve." Key matchups this season include home games against Illiana Christian and Andrean, which will also serve as Senior Night. The Mustangs are looking to make a statement in their first official IHSAA season, and with a talented core and experienced coach, the team is poised for a memorable year.
