This past weekend, the Seahorse girls swim and dive team delivered an impressive performance at the sectional meet held at Lake Central. Six swimmers have punched their tickets to the state competition: Lilly King, Mia Terfler, Taylor Jerousek, Emi Buschmann, Arantxa Rivera, and Lauren Dumaresq. Diver Jeorgia Garcia will compete at regionals on Tuesday at Valparaiso High School at 5 p.m., aiming for a spot at the state meet. Highlighting the meet, Lilly King shattered a Munster High School team record in the 100-yard backstroke, previously set in 2012, by finishing in a blazing time of 55.97 seconds. Despite a strong showing, the Seahorses finished second overall, narrowly falling to Crown Point by just 31 points. The State Finals for Swimming and Diving will take place this Friday and Saturday at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.
